Just in time for the implementation of the new Welsh Housing Quality Standards (WHQS2023), TPAS Cymru have developed a five-part online programme of comprehensive training sessions, designed to unpack WHQS2023 into digestible information to equip housing professionals, tenants and board members with the essential knowledge and skills to get WHQS right and enhance tenant satisfaction. Join us in a series of engaging sessions covering various aspects of the new standard. Each session is 1hr and 15 minutes long.

Session 1: Thursday, 18th April: 10.00am - 11.15am – How to develop a WHQS tenant focused strategy?

Unlock the secrets of a WHQS2023 into tenant-friendly strategies. We will explore what Welsh Government are seeking and show how to create a welcoming and supportive environment for tenants whilst meeting legislative standards. We will explore the subjects that need discussing and engagement with tenants. Gain insights into developing, understanding the tenant engagement requirements of WHQS.

Session 2: Thursday 2nd May: 10.00am - 11.15am – Unpacking and Understanding the technical standards around key components like damp and mould, noise, smoke alarms and wider habitability.

These key standards have lots of technical details for technical professionals. We want to unpack that with the help of a friendly expert. We will delve into the technical standards surrounding key subjects like damp, mould, noise, and habitability in an easy-to-understand manner. WHQS2023 is designed to ensure homes meet the quality standards and provide healthy living conditions.  Equip yourself with the knowledge of the standards, what is not in the standards, and what is being measured? Be aware of the specific questions that need to be discussed.  Identify, address and support tenants to report issues related to damp and mould effectively.

Session 3: Thursday 16th May: 10.00am - 11.15am - Sustainability: creating affordable warmth in homes, green gardens, and communal space.

At the heart of WHQS2023 is decarbonisation, affordable warmth and more substantiable homes and surroundings. We will unpack the relevant objectives, explore the deadlines, and discuss the key conversations that are needs to turn standards into deliverable strategy.  This session will not just cover your home and affordable warmth, but water savings, greener gardens, and enhanced communal spaces. Get the key knowledge to understand and develop this game changing subject.

Session 4: Thursday, 6th June: 10.00am - 11.15am – All the other requirements   

WHQS2023 has objectives on a range of other subjects not covered above. Examples include Community Benefits, Digital Connectivity etc.  We will unpack these into the objectives, deadlines, and what conversations need to happen to ensure tenants, communities and landlords really benefit from some interesting objectives.

Session 5: Thursday 27th June: 10.00am - 11.15am - Measurement, reporting and tracking.  (NOTE: AMENDED DATE)

In this final session we will unpack the measurement, reporting, and tracking the new standard. We will explore key metrics, deadlines, and indicators to assess performance, track progress, and make informed decisions. Gain valuable insights into developing transparent robust reporting mechanisms to drive continuous improvement and accountability.

Suitable for: Everyone!  The purpose of ‘unpacked’ is for all stakeholders to understand WHQS2023, which discussions and questions need answers, and together we can make it a success.  That is why we are offering a landlord-based group pass to allow a range of stakeholders, tenants, staff, board etc to attend.

Each attendee will get a downloadable WHQS2023 Unpacked guide for future reference, as well as a copy of the recordings.

Note: This programme is also available as customised in-house sessions for a landlord or tenant group.   

COST

  • Group pass: £499 + VAT. For that you can send as wide range of staff and tenants. You will also get a handbook. Up to 25 people per session and the pass covers all 5 sessions, manual and video download included. That is less than £20 per person for 5 insightful engaging sessions.  There will be a cap on how many of these landlord passes we offer so early commitment is advised.
  • Individual pass: £180 per officer, £100 per tenant for all 5 sessions, manual and video download included.
