Roundtable for Local Authority Staff

Setting timescales for social housing landlords to respond to reports of hazards which have significant health impacts - Welsh Government Consultation

Roundtable for Local Authority Staff

Thursday, 15th May 2025:  11am – 12:30pm

We hope you will be able to join us for this online session, specifically for Local Authority Housing staff, to find out more about the proposals contained in this important Welsh Government consultation and share your thoughts to influence our response.

Welsh Government is currently consulting on proposed changes to ensure social landlords take prompt action on health hazards in the home, including damp & mould.  It proposes clear timelines for landlords to investigate and address these issues once reported as well as a reporting mechanism to ensure transparency and accountability.

TPAS Cymru will be responding to this consultation, and we are keen to reflect the views of our Local Authority Housing member organisations.  To register your place on this free session see booking details below.

Further context

The consultation focuses on a proposal for specifying a rule which will form a part of WHQS23 in relation to social landlords’ response to damp, mould and other hazards, as defined in the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). The intention is the rule will require all social landlords to publish response times and to report on performance as part of the WHQS compliance return.

The aim is to improve outcomes for tenants by setting clear service expectations which enhance transparency of landlord’s responses to damp and mould and other hazards and to make the information available to improve scrutiny and accountability by linking the standards to WHQS23 compliance.

Full details about the consultation are detailed in this Welsh Government document
