What do tenants need to know about Housing Assocation’s finances?

This continues our series of events on Rent - one of the biggest areas of discussion in housing currently and the call for transparency from tenants and media.

This session is designed to tackle and de-mystify the business of being a social landlord. Tenants want to know how they raise money, spend, borrow, and what that all means for Rent.

We’ve lined up speakers from Community Housing CymruUnited Welsh Housing Association and Merthyr Valley Homes as we take you thought Housing Association finances and tackle many of the common questions, myths, and challenges asked by tenants around affordability such as:

  • How do you raise money and spend it?
  • What happens to landlord surpluses every year?
  • Does my rent go on repairs or build new homes?
  • Why do you build new homes when there is work to do on existing homes?
  • What are banking covenants and why are so important?
  • What are the Pros/Cons of different rent rises?

This session is suitable for tenants, staff, board members and those engaged in the housing sector.

  • All cancellations for paid events must be made by email to [email protected]  If you cancel your place less than 2 working days before the online event you will incur the full cost. 
  • If you are unable to attend, you can send a substitute delegate at no extra cost.  All substitute delegates must be notified to [email protected] 
  • If you fail to attend a paid, online sessions, you will be charged the full cost of attendance. 
  • Once we have received your cancellation, we will forward you a confirmation of your cancellation. 

 

TPAS Cymru Right to Cancel 

We aim to make sure that all online events run as planned. However, there may be times when, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have to cancel an event. Should this be the case we will give you as much notice as possible. If you have already paid for the cancelled event we will give you a full refund. Should we run the event again, we will give you priority
