TPAS Cymru has arranged a free online event on International Tenants Day for you to celebrate and meet tenant organisations from other parts of the world.
Our speakers include:
Carl-Johan Bergström, Chief Negotiator at the Swedish Union of Tenants.
The Swedish Union of Tenants has around 500,000 members and negotiates the rents for around 3,000,000 tenants in 1,500,000 properties
Maja Staleska, President of the Housing and Tenants Organization in North Macedonia.
Maja will expalin how this inspiring tenant organisation are campaigning for tenant rights in north Macedonia and the challenges they face.
Dave Maher, tenant and Chair of Supporting Communities in Northern Ireland
Dave is a tenant activist and will tell his story has taken hime on a journey through some challenging times into Social housing and the change it made. He is now Chair of Supporting Communities NI

Background information
The first Monday in October was established in 1986 as a global day for tenants by the International Union of Tenants (IUT). The IUT is a non-governmental and not-for-profit membership organisation for global tenants’ organisations. IUT was founded in 1926 in Zürich, Switzerland. They now have 74 member organisations in 51 countries. (Including TPAS Cymru).
