Tuesday 26th November 10.30 – 12.30pm
Making sure that we hear from all tenants can be a real challenge! How you hear their views, concerns and questions is crucial – especially those tenants who are often ‘over-looked’.
So once again, Tpas (England), TPAS Scotland, TPAS Cymru and Supporting Communities from Northern Ireland, have joined together to present this exciting, informative and interactive online workshop sharing good practice from the four nations.
TPAS Scotland: The lengths we go to reaching our rural communities to ensure no one gets left behind.
Exploring the challenges and changes to rural engagement and how we overcome distance to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for participation. From ferries, flights and driving many miles to connecting and coming together from our homes. The landscape of rural engagement has shifted, how do we make sure that we are taking our tenants with us? Building a network of informed and engaged tenants to help steer positive change.
Northern Ireland:
We will look at how Supporting Communities, as well as other organisations have engaged with residents and customers digitally to increase influence and foster empowerment. We will examine how gaining different perspectives via digital platforms can allow us to gain better understanding, and in turn, how this can be used to improve services. Utilising digital means to capture the perspective of those who may not have been engaged does bring challenges and we will discuss what processes organisations have implemented to ensure a voice is given and importantly, heard.
TPAS England
Are ethnic minority tenants truly heard by housing providers, or are their voices being left out of the conversation? Join Kai Jackson, a respected tenant advocate, Tpas England Associate, and author of the groundbreaking soon-to-be-published research, "Diverse Voices: Is There a Seat at the Table?" as she explores
Kai’s presentation is perfect for housing providers, tenant representatives, and anyone passionate about diversity and inclusion. You’ll leave inspired with actionable ideas to create a more inclusive, engaged tenant community.
Pembrokeshire County Council Housing Department
Hear from Natalie Badham from Pembrokeshire County Council Housing Department about their successful Housing and Homeless Youth Forum, a programme that includes young tenants using a person-centred approach. The initiative has allowed young tenants to have their say in shaping services across the organisation in areas such as reviewing of the Choice Homes application, the Tenant Handbook and ways in which we can make our service more inclusive. Natalie will share: What worked? What’s changed and What’s planned for the future to ensure the voices of young people are heard.
Who should attend?
Tenants, staff, Board Members, LA Members, Senior Managers and anyone in social housing who’s keen to make sure all tenants’ voices are heard and listened to.
