TPAS Cymru strengthening its community engagement skills with Eleanor Speer joining the team
As Eleanor Speer joined TPAS Cymru last week, she outlines her goals and how her background will strengthen the team.
It’s been a fantastic start to the week as I join the team at TPAS Cymru. I’ve had the opportunity to meet the whole team and have been made to feel wonderfully welcome by the Chair of the board, Bill Hunt, and the Vice-Chair, Emma Parcell – who I know from my time at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
In regard to my background, I am currently finishing off my Masters at Cardiff University in Social and Public Policy. My research explores community engagement, participation, co-production and citizenship. This has allowed me to build a strong and comprehensive understanding of how our homes and communities are crucial pillars in our wellbeing, along with understanding the importance of an individual’s voice - and the need to build policy in consultation with the very members of our society that it affects.
Although I am based most of the time in our south Wales office, I am looking forward to working with tenants and members across the whole of Wales. I’ve been able to hit the ground running this week as we plan some of our exciting events for 2022 at which I hope to meet many of you at, and I have also had the opportunity to travel to meet with our north Wales team.
When I’m not busy in work I love discovering new music, exploring the beautiful Welsh coast and helping my local Brownie unit.
If you are unable to make it to any of our events or would like to speak to me prior, please do not hesitate to get in touch. I look forward to hopefully meeting many of you soon!
