Tenant Voice on Climate Change and Decarbonsing Homes
Tenant Pulse is the official Wales-Wide panel of tenants giving their views on the things that matter right to them. It is created by TPAS Cymru with support from Welsh Government. It covers tenants of both Social housing (Housing Associations and Council housing) plus Private Renters including students and those in Supported Housing. If you are a tenant why not learn more about Tenant Pulse
This report explores the knowledge and awareness of tenants in Wales, in relation to the environmental challenges. It investigates attitudes and perceptions of the transition to low carbon technologies and carbon conscious behaviours based on socio-demographic groups. Our analysis underlines the importance of creating greater awareness and educating tenants of the impact that housing has on climate emissions and the benefits of new technologies. It emphasises different perceptions based on age, level of education, employment status and tenure, while also considering the methods of engagement when working with tenants to decarbonise homes in Wales.
Three hundred and two tenants responded to this survey from all twenty-two Local Authority areas in Wales. Whilst we acknowledge that this is not representative of the whole tenant population, we are confident that the findings offer valuable insight.
