TPAS Cymru is pleased to launch a new project in collaboration with the Electoral Commission.

Supporting tenants and empowering communities through democracy

TPAS Cymru is pleased to launch a new project in collaboration with the Electoral Commission to support  social housing tenants and staff to feel more confident and informed about democracy.

Did you know that The Electoral Commission’s research reveals that in Wales, only 82% of tenants living in housing association homes are properly registered, compared to 94% of homeowners.

As part of this project, we’ll be working closely with tenants, staff and stakeholders up to figure out what stops people from registering and explore how tenants feel about democracy and voting. There are plenty of opportunities for both staff and tenants to get involved over the next 3 months.

From understanding devolution and the Senedd to learning how to register and cast your vote, this project is about breaking down the barriers and making the democratic process accessible to all tenants.

This project is all about creating lasting change and empowering tenants in Wales. We’ll develop practical recommendations to improve voter information sharing and registration in social housing by listening to tenants and learning what works best.

No matter if you’re a housing colleague, tenant or member, save the dates in your diary for the below free events:
