Akshita Joins TPAS Cymru as NetZero Engagement Officer
As Akshita joins TPAS Cymru this week, she outlines her goals and how her background will enhance the team
"Stepping into the world of TPAS Cymru as the Net Zero Engagement Officer has been an exhilarating journey, filled with new faces and becoming part of the incredible team.
My name is Akshita, and I'm originally from the beautiful hills of Dehradun in Uttarakhand, India. In September last year, I embarked on a new chapter by moving to Cardiff to pursue a Master's degree in International Journalism.
My academic journey has been diverse, with a background in Economics during my undergraduate years. This laid the foundation for my understanding of the pivotal role policies and schemes play in shaping our economy and well-being. Alongside this, what truly ignites my passion is the art of storytelling. I firmly believe that stories have the power to inspire change and bridge gaps in understanding.
Back in India, I had the incredible opportunity to work at LiveMint, an Indian financial daily. This role allowed me to put my passion for storytelling into practice. While there, I was fortunate to manage events and actively participate in shaping agendas. One pivotal event was the Sustainability Summit, where I gained valuable insights into solutions for environmental challenges. It deepened my appreciation for a solution-centric approach—a perspective I bring to TPAS Cymru.
Motivated by my passion for storytelling, I also delved into sustainability by writing and producing a documentary on the challenges small businesses face in their journey towards becoming green and sustainable. This project reinforced my belief that effective storytelling can drive positive change.
Sustainability is more than just a buzzword to me; it's a belief. Finding solutions to the challenges we face today is a collective responsibility, and I'm excited to be part of TPAS Cymru to contribute to projects related to decarbonization and net zero targets. Effective communication, engagement, and simplifying complex issues are the keys to progress, and I look forward to applying these principles in my new role.
On a more personal note, I have a soft spot for dogs, and you might find me trying my hand at gardening in my free time. These interests, while not directly related to my role at TPAS Cymru, are sources of inspiration that remind me of the beauty and wonder of the natural world, driving my commitment to sustainability.
I can't wait to connect, share ideas, and work together towards a greener, more sustainable future. If you ever want to chat or have any insights to share, feel free to email me. Let's make a positive impact together!"
